Help:Editing
More actions
You don't need to know wiki markup to edit anything here. Every page has an Edit button at the top — click it and you'll get a Word-like editor (this is called the VisualEditor).
Quick start
- Make sure you're logged in (top-right corner). If you don't have an
account yet, see Special:CreateAccount.
- Open any page and click Edit (the pencil icon on mobile).
- Type. Use the toolbar for headings, links, lists, bold, etc. — same
shortcuts as Word:Ctrl-Bfor bold,Ctrl-Ifor italic.
- Click Save changes, write a brief edit summary so others know
what you changed, and you're done.
Linking to other pages
Highlight some text and click the Link icon (or
Ctrl-K). Type the page name and pick from the
suggestions. Linking to a page that doesn't exist yet is fine — the
link will be red, and clicking it will let you create that page.
Adding a photo
See Help:Adding_a_payphone_photo.
If something looks broken
Click History on the page (top-right tab) to see every previous version. Each version has an undo link if you need to roll back.
Source editor
If you'd rather write wiki markup directly, click the [[ ]]-style icon in the editor toolbar to switch to source mode. The full markup reference is at [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Formatting mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Formatting].
What gets reviewed
New users' first edits and uploads go to a moderation queue (Special:Moderation) for a quick check. Once you've made 10 good edits over 4 days, you're auto-confirmed and your changes go live immediately.
