Photos make this wiki. Three steps:
The easiest way to add a photo to a payphone's wiki page.

# '''Upload the photo:''' [[Special:Upload]] — drag in a JPG/PNG/WebP (max 20 MB). Give it a descriptive filename (e.g.
Payphone_glebe_2037_north.jpg
, not
IMG_1234.jpg
) and a short description.
== Step by step ==
# '''Open the payphone page''' (e.g. [[Payphone:02 9876 5432|Payphone:5519]]) and click '''Edit'''. If the page doesn't exist yet, you can create it from a search (follow the guide in [[Template:Payphone/doc]]).
# In VisualEditor, click '''Insert → Media''' and pick the file you just uploaded. Drop it under the
== History ==
heading with a one-line caption ("North side, looking toward Glebe Point Rd, March 2026"). Save.

* Phone visible end-to-end with surroundings (helps people find it).
# '''Find the payphone's page.''' Click any phone on the [https://payphonetag.com map] (the wiki link is in the bottom rail) or visit [[Special:Random/Payphone]] for a random one. Page titles look like [[Payphone:02951600X1]] — the Telstra cabinet ID.
* Daylight if possible.
# '''Scroll to the "Photos" section''' near the top of the page. If photos already exist, you'll see a gallery; if not, an empty-state message inviting you to add the first.
* Caption: which side of the street, when taken, anything notable (graffiti, repairs, a missing handset).
# '''Click "Add a photo of this payphone".''' This opens the upload form with the filename, category, and licence already pre-filled — you don't need to edit any of those.
== What not to upload ==
# '''Choose your image''' (JPG, PNG, or WebP — up to 15 MB).
# '''Add a caption''' (optional). In the description box you'll see a placeholder
<nowiki></nowiki>
. Replace it with your caption, or leave it — the comment is invisible on the rendered file page.
# '''Click "Upload file".''' Your photo appears in the Photos section automatically once approved.

The easiest way to add a photo to a payphone's wiki page.

Step by step

 1. Find the payphone's page. Click any phone on the map (the wiki link is in the bottom rail) or visit Special:Random/Payphone for a random one. Page titles look like Payphone:02951600X1 — the Telstra cabinet ID.
 2. Scroll to the "Photos" section near the top of the page. If photos already exist, you'll see a gallery; if not, an empty-state message inviting you to add the first.
 3. Click "Add a photo of this payphone". This opens the upload form with the filename, category, and licence already pre-filled — you don't need to edit any of those.
 4. Choose your image (JPG, PNG, or WebP — up to 15 MB).
 5. Add a caption (optional). In the description box you'll see a placeholder . Replace it with your caption, or leave it — the comment is invisible on the rendered file page.
 6. Click "Upload file". Your photo appears in the Photos section automatically once approved.

New accounts have their first uploads moderated for a quick spam check (usually within a day). Once auto-confirmed (4 days + 10 edits), uploads publish straight away.
